98-99/100 James Suckling: “Is this the twin brother of the amazing 2015? We will see. What a superb density and richness with bright and intense tannins that are buttressed with fresh acidity. Beautiful finish. »

98/100 Jean-Marc Quarin: “The best ever made with the 1990! Dark, intense and black colour. Very aromatic, fine, complex, fruity nose, with a note of plum and gingerbread. Very nice entry in the mouth. The wine offers itself from the outset, with a great cherry taste, a fleshy body and a lot of aromatic brilliance. It melts in the middle, juicy and noble in its texture before weaving on the finish to finish in a great sappy, fragrant length, with a brilliant tannin grain. Superb! Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc – Alcohol content: 14°3 (lower than 2009 and 2010) – pH: 3.38 (minus average). The best ever. »

95-98+ /100 Antonio Galloni Vinous : « The 2016 Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse is outrageously beautiful. A striking bouquet of crushed rocks, graphite, smoke, scorched earth and lavender opens into a core of plush, sumptuous fruit. Deep, dark and inviting, the 2016 is endowed with tremendous intensity in all of its dimensions. Beams of tannin give the wine its explosive, exuberant personality. This is another exceptional showing from Nicolas Thienpont and his team. Readers should be prepared to be patient, as the 2016
is going to need time in bottle to be at its best. Even so, it is deeply impressive today. Tasted three times. »

97-99/100 Jeff Lewe, the Wine Cellar insider:“Deep dark in color, this wine is all about the spirit of fresh picked flowers, stony minerals and black cherry. Full bodied and penetrating, the wine has a beautiful sense of purity, lift and finesse. There is intensity, concentration and layers of sweetly saturated, energetic, dark fruits, licorice and boysenberry that just keep going long after the last sip. The wine was produced from blending 90% Merlot, harvested October 7 to October 18 and 10% Cabernet Franc, picked October 18 to October 21. The wine reached 14.4% alcohol with a pH of 3.38. »
